As one reviewer put it, my stories are "brain candy for anyone liking action and character-driven stories." In essence, I write lighthearted tales of phantasy realms and stardust (fantasy, paranormal, and space opera/soft science fiction). I consider these "Women's Starscape Fiction" in that I write stories that are adventure-quests and where characters are like real people facing real dilemmas. It's where their journey (with or without a romance) is on other worlds, in other realms -- and where there's always a satisfying ending.
Bio --- (for a brief bio, go HERE)
My background is in journalism, editing, and creative writing. I am also an author, writing instructor, and workshop speaker (both online and in person). I give online and in-person workshops for writers which are found HERE .
Since 1993, I've sold short stories in science fiction, paranormal, and contemporary (with and without romance elements) to hard-copy and online anthologies and magazines (writing as C. E. McLean). ADRADA TO ZOOL is an anthology of my previously published short stories plus a new novella.
KARMA AND MAYHEM was my debut paranormal-fantasy-romance novel published by Soul Mate Publishing and since the copyright reverted back to me this year, I will be reissuing the book with a new cover come the fall of 2017. Also, a sequel if being drafted, tentatively titled Keys to Her Heart.
JEWELS OF THE SKY was my second novel, a futuristic/sci-fi adventure (space opera) published by Rimstone Concepts.
HEARTS AKILTER, a romance novella, was published by The Wild Rose Press in Aug. 2015.
I freelance as a developmental and content editor (information is available at my writer's website, www.WritersCheatSheets.com). Once a month, I blog about the craft of writing fiction at http://writerscheatsheets.blogspot.com. I strive to help educate writers who want to become published storytellers.
I'm a longtime member of Pennwriters, which is a wonderful organization, and whose members awarded me the Pennwriters 2010 Meritorious Service Award (www.pennwriters.org). I'm also a member of other groups (see list to the right).
In October of 2016, I retired as a 4-H Leader having taught kids to sew, cook, and take great photographs. The time covers two states and three different counties.
I live in rural Western Pennsylvania in a rambling old farmhouse with my husband. We are retired from raising, training, and showing Morgan Sport Horses. I am also an avid amateur photographer. Flowers are my favorite subject. However, I'm currently enamored and fascinated by the ever-changing sky and clouds. Pets include Mojee, a dust-mop-of-a-barks-alot Schnauzer/Bicheon Frise mix and two seal-brown (almost black) barn cats that have decided they like being house cats. Since it's nigh on impossible to tell the two apart, they both answer to "Kitty-Kitty."
